Airport-to-home medical transport in China
A medically supported airport-to-home journey ends only when a suitable person and home environment receive the traveller, not when a vehicle reaches the address.
Assess the final metres
Ask whether the person can sit, stand and transfer after the flight, and what clinician-specified support is required on the road. Home access may involve stairs, a narrow lift, parking restrictions or distance from the curb. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle might solve seating but not provide clinical observation or oxygen. Conversely, an ambulance cannot guarantee appropriate home care. Name the individual who opens the property, takes over medication and equipment and can be present at the actual arrival time. The treating team should assess any planned home interval when clinical support is needed.
Link airline assistance to the road team
Identify the actual flight, terminal and reachable public-area meeting point. Clarify who supports the traveller through immigration, baggage and the gap before a driver can meet them. Assign custody of a personal wheelchair, oxygen source and medication through the change. If an escort ends at arrivals, ask whether the road vehicle’s staff accept the patient’s documented needs from that point. Do not sell the job as airport pickup only when the traveller cannot manage the unsupported interval. If airline equipment is required, its approval is the operating carrier’s decision.
Handle the absent home receiver
Flight changes can leave a family carer or oxygen supplier unavailable. Give one coordinator the task of reconfirming home access before the vehicle departs the airport. If the home setup is not ready, the responsible clinicians and family must assess an alternative destination; the driver should not improvise admission to a hospital. State whether the supplier’s contract ends at the curb, doorway or assisted interior transfer, and what extra waiting costs. A quote should include companion seats and luggage if they alter vehicle capacity. Keep the public enquiry to basic logistics and support.
Home is an active receiving point
Confirm that a responsible person will be present, the building entrance and lift are usable, and any prescribed support or equipment is available on arrival. A road supplier may end at the vehicle or doorway unless bedside assistance is in scope. If the patient still needs clinical observation, ask the treating team whether home remains appropriate and who assumes care. Airline assistance does not continue through a private residence. Include stairs, luggage and companions in the vehicle request; they can change the feasible route.
Decision pathway
If home support and access are confirmed, match an appropriate vehicle and handover. If the receiver or required equipment is absent, keep the route conditional and obtain a clinically appropriate alternative.
Information for a useful first enquiry
Arrival flight, airport, home address and access; current mobility and general support; personal chair/equipment; home recipient and arrival window; companion/payer.

Tell us where, when and what support is needed
A short description of the route and support required is enough to start. Send any case details directly by email, not through a public webpage.
