Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) medical transfer and patient handover

A PEK arrival is a Beijing Capital Airport handover, not a generic Beijing pickup. First separate it from Daxing (PKX), then identify where airport assistance ends and ground transport begins.

Capital Airport assistance

Beijing Capital Airport describes wheelchair accompaniment and other special-passenger services, with eligibility and reservation conditions on its official pages. For a traveller who has already requested airline special assistance, check which team handles the journey through the terminal; an airport service description should not be interpreted as automatic medical accompaniment. Obtain the actual terminal and publicly permitted meeting point before vehicle dispatch.

From aircraft to vehicle

For arrival, flight landing, deplaning, baggage and release into the arrivals area are different events. The road team should have a reachable contact and delay plan; it should not promise access airside. For departure, plan facility release, traffic uncertainty and airline processing separately. If the person cannot transfer between wheelchairs and vehicle seats, describe that transfer need explicitly.

Beijing destination decision

Send the exact receiving hospital department or home address, not only “Beijing”. Verify acceptance and access at destination. PEK and PKX may create materially different road assignments; a flight change between them must reach dispatch and the receiving team. Any onward intercity leg deserves its own assessment of travel duration and patient support.

How to prevent a wrong-airport dispatch

Put the code PEK in the assignment subject and ask the dispatch team to repeat it with terminal and flight. Confirm the destination address with the family and receiving institution, rather than accepting “Beijing hospital”. If the itinerary changes to PKX, treat it as a new airport-side plan: revise meeting location, vehicle assignment and likely arrival window, and inform the receiver. Capital Airport’s published assistance is relevant to PEK; it should not be copied onto a Daxing case.

Which assistance covers which step?

The airline may manage a prebooked wheelchair request, while Capital Airport separately publishes assistance for qualifying passengers. Clarify which arrangement is actually confirmed and at what point it ends. The ground provider needs an accessible transfer from that point to its vehicle and a receiving destination that can take the traveller. For departure, a vehicle at the terminal does not complete airline check-in or medical clearance. If the passenger uses a stretcher or oxygen, obtain the relevant carrier and provider decisions; a general airport wheelchair page cannot certify those arrangements.

Decision pathway

If ticket says PEK, confirm terminal and airport/airline assistance; if PKX, leave this PEK plan and create a separate Daxing plan. At PEK, identify last assisted point, public meeting contact and ground provider. If receiving acceptance is absent, do not describe the airport-to-hospital transfer as ready.
