Returning home after a medical flight: China airport to residence

A flight home does not settle who helps the patient enter the residence or provides care after the vehicle leaves.

A home address is not a handover plan

Ask the treating team whether home is the intended destination and what support is required there. Confirm who will be physically present to receive the patient, when the home is accessible and whether ongoing care has actually been arranged. A driver handing the patient to an empty flat is not a complete plan.

Check the last metres

Building security, lifts, stairs, door width and distance from parking can determine whether a seated or stretcher patient can get indoors. Describe these facts to the transport provider before the quote; the crew should only promise the part it can actually deliver.

Separate the journey from home care

Confirm whether oxygen, mobility aids or clinical observation must continue after the road team leaves, and who supplies them. A transport booking cannot replace a home nursing or doctor arrangement; the appropriate clinicians should determine the care plan.

Agree completion and contingency

Give the overseas escort and China contact a reachable phone number. Record the person receiving the patient and the point at which the ground team ends its responsibility. If the home becomes inaccessible or the patient changes condition, pause and seek the responsible team’s revised instruction.

Vehicle-to-door access

Questions before a booking

Is home always cheaper than a receiving facility?

The destination alone does not establish cost or suitability. Vehicle, equipment, timing and entry support are assessed per case.

Will the driver arrange home oxygen?

Only if a named provider and equipment are expressly included. The treating team must clarify ongoing clinical needs.
