Pudong Airport to a Shanghai hospital: medical transfer after landing
For a patient flying into PVG who needs a receiving hospital and suitable ground support after landing.

Confirm the destination before the vehicle
A flight reservation and an ambulance booking do not establish that a hospital will receive the patient. Confirm the destination, department or receiving contact, intended arrival window and the process for admission with the facility. The family's preferred hospital may need to assess records before it can accept the transfer.
Define the airport handover point
The arriving airline, airport services, immigration and customs control the route from aircraft to public arrivals. Agree who accompanies the patient, how mobility assistance is arranged, and exactly where the China-side team can meet them. Do not assume an outside vehicle or coordinator can enter the aircraft stand, restricted area or ward.
Choose transport for the actual support required
A person able to sit and travel without clinical support may have different transport needs from someone needing a stretcher, oxygen or monitoring. The treating team determines clinical fitness and needs; we coordinate the ground arrangements that are confirmed available for the route. Allow for flight delays, baggage and uncertain clearance times.
Keep a live handover contact
Share the flight number, estimated and actual arrival, terminal if known, local contact and destination contact. Agree who will update the vehicle team if the flight, receiving facility or condition changes. Ask for a clear meeting location and the final handover point before travel day.
Useful details for a first enquiry
- Arrival date, flight number and Pudong terminal if known
- Receiving hospital, department and named contact, or state that these are not yet confirmed
- Whether the patient can sit or walk and whether wheelchair, stretcher, oxygen or monitoring has been requested by clinicians
- Companion count, luggage volume and a reachable phone number
A route and support summary is enough to start; discuss detailed records directly by email with the coordinator.
