Returning to China after surgery: hospital, rehabilitation or home first?
The first destination after landing depends on the treating team’s discharge plan and the actual accepting person or provider in China.

Separate readiness to fly from readiness to go home
A patient may be cleared for a flight yet still need follow-up, rehabilitation or medical support after arrival. Ask the overseas treating team to identify unresolved care needs and the next appointment or service; a commercial flight booking does not settle the destination.
Confirm each candidate destination
Hospital admission requires provider acceptance, a rehabilitation facility has its own admission criteria, while a home plan depends on appropriate support and a responsible follow-up clinician. Do not claim that a vehicle booking includes a bed or post-hospital care.
Plan the airport transfer to the correct support level
Communicate mobility, clinician-requested oxygen and any equipment or personnel requirements to the local executing provider. Destination travel time and whether stairs, a wheelchair or a stretcher are involved may alter the arrangement.
Give family a specific handover task
Identify who meets the patient, receives discharge information and can answer when the flight time changes. Share detailed records privately with the appropriate clinical team, not through the public enquiry page.

Treating team confirms clinical needs.
Hospital and provider confirm acceptance and execution.
Authorised party confirms scope and revised costs.
Questions before a booking
Should a patient travel directly home because a flight has been approved?
Not necessarily. Confirm post-arrival care needs with treating and receiving clinicians first.
Useful details for a first enquiry
- Named departure and receiving points
- Date or flight and outstanding confirmations
- Mobility and clinician-specified support
- Person authorised to approve cost and changes
A route and support summary is enough to start; discuss detailed records directly by email with the coordinator.
Tell us where, when and what support is needed
A short description of the route and support required is enough to start. Send any case details directly by email, not through a public webpage.
