Thai Airways medical clearance for China journeys
A China journey on Thai Airways can be booked before the clinical and carriage questions are resolved. The traveller needs a plan for the actual operating flight, any special assistance, ground transfer and receiving care.
What this carrier actually publishes
Thai Airways publishes MEDIF guidance for passengers requiring medical assessment, with oxygen, wheelchair and stretcher needs described in the treating doctor’s information. This is the airline’s decision process, not a promise of acceptance. Determine which current form or booking channel applies to the exact requested support.
Present support needs in the doctor’s form
Thai Airways guidance asks that its medical assessment receive information on the condition and requested oxygen, wheelchair or stretcher assistance. The treating doctor describes needs; THAI decides how the passenger may be carried. A Bangkok connection should be mapped as two flight decisions if the operator changes. Distinguish a wheelchair for airport mobility from an in-flight stretcher request and from medically staffed ground transport after China arrival. Each has a separate supplier and a different meeting boundary.
Doctor information versus THAI acceptance
THAI’s guidance asks the treating doctor to describe the passenger’s condition and any oxygen, wheelchair or stretcher need on its medical information form. The doctor does not reserve these services simply by listing them. THAI reviews the actual booking and may set carriage conditions. Ask which part of a mobility request is ordinary airport assistance and which requires an onboard medical arrangement.
Clinical assessment is separate
The treating clinician assesses whether the proposed flight and transfers are appropriate for this person now, including seating, positioning and any prescribed oxygen or equipment. Thai Airways determines whether it can carry the traveller and provide or accept the requested arrangements. Neither the coordinator nor a website can substitute for either decision.
Bangkok transit has three boundaries
For a China journey through Bangkok, mark the end of the arriving airline service, the transit mobility or equipment support, and the start of the onward service. If another airline operates the next flight, request its medical decision too. A wheelchair available in the terminal is not a vehicle at the China airport and cannot take a passenger to a hospital ward. Name the public pickup contact and destination receiver.
If the plan changes
After a medical review, changes to the operating carrier, aircraft, support needs or patient condition must be raised with the clinician and Thai Airways before travel. Reconfirm the road booking and receiver against the revised itinerary. Do not send medical records through the public enquiry box; use an authorised direct channel.
Decision pathway
Have the clinician complete the current THAI document for the requested service; wait for THAI’s carriage response, then settle Bangkok assistance and China road transfer. Reassess a support change before departure.

Tell us where, when and what support is needed
A short description of the route and support required is enough to start. Send any case details directly by email, not through a public webpage.
