Vietnam Airlines medical clearance for China journeys
A China journey on Vietnam Airlines can be booked before the clinical and carriage questions are resolved. The traveller needs a plan for the actual operating flight, any special assistance, ground transfer and receiving care.
What this carrier actually publishes
Vietnam Airlines provides MEDIF I and MEDIF II in its medical-requirements process and separate information for oxygen and stretcher requests. This is the airline’s decision process, not a promise of acceptance. Determine which current form or booking channel applies to the exact requested support.
MEDIF I and II and service-specific requests
Vietnam Airlines distinguishes passenger declaration in MEDIF I from medical confirmation in MEDIF II. Its oxygen and stretcher service pages should be checked for the actual sector and required escort arrangements. A route with a domestic Vietnam connection is not one continuous aircraft environment: list changes in cabin service, terminal mobility and equipment custody. On arrival in China, name the receiving ground contact and clarify whether the requested oxygen continues beyond the airline’s responsibility.
Two MEDIF parts have different authors
Vietnam Airlines’ process distinguishes MEDIF I passenger declaration from MEDIF II medical confirmation. Ask who completes and signs each current part and whether a stretcher or oxygen service has a separate request. A clinical statement cannot stand in for the passenger declaration, while a family-completed MEDIF I cannot replace a clinician’s assessment. Await the actual airline’s decision on the proposed flight and service.
Clinical assessment is separate
The treating clinician assesses whether the proposed flight and transfers are appropriate for this person now, including seating, positioning and any prescribed oxygen or equipment. Vietnam Airlines determines whether it can carry the traveller and provide or accept the requested arrangements. Neither the coordinator nor a website can substitute for either decision.
Vietnam domestic sector and China reception
If the itinerary includes a Vietnam domestic leg, confirm whether oxygen, stretcher, escort or device support is available on both aircraft. A terminal transfer creates a separate support gap. Identify the person keeping the traveller and equipment together while changing flights. The China road operator should know the final sector, estimated arrival and assistance needs; the receiving hospital must separately agree its intake window.
If the plan changes
After a medical review, changes to the operating carrier, aircraft, support needs or patient condition must be raised with the clinician and Vietnam Airlines before travel. Reconfirm the road booking and receiver against the revised itinerary. Do not send medical records through the public enquiry box; use an authorised direct channel.
Decision pathway
Complete current MEDIF I and II with their proper authors, request any oxygen or stretcher service for each operating flight, and close the transit-to-China ground handover after airline acceptance.
