The flight escort cannot complete the China arrival alone

Before landing, the China-side team needs the actual operating flight, airport, a reachable escort and the location where the carrier’s assistance ends. The escort should know whether they keep responsibility during immigration and baggage processing and whether the patient can safely wait. At public arrivals, medication, equipment and mobility support must be transferred to the local team. If a receiving hospital is intended, it must independently accept the patient and agree an arrival window. An escort that ends at the airport is a different booking from an escort accompanying the patient to the ward; the case owner should state which outcome was commissioned.

Map the flight escort’s actual coverage

For an inbound journey, identify the sending facility or airport where the escort starts, each operating airline and connection, and whether duty continues through arrival formalities in China. The carrier controls carriage and approved onboard equipment; an escort contract cannot change those rules. The traveller’s records, medicines and devices need a named custodian during transit. If a connection is missed, state who can approve the escort’s additional time and who updates the China ground team. Do not call the journey arranged merely because one escort flight is booked.

Agree the China-side exchange in advance

Provide actual flight, airport, public-area meeting point and a reachable number for both escort and local team. Ask who handles mobility support and equipment from the aircraft to the place the local provider can access. If the endpoint is a hospital, obtain its individual receiving decision and window; if home, identify a responsible recipient. The local road team should accept the specified position, oxygen or observation needs before landing. Delays in border processing can change the pickup hour, so use an arrival update rather than a rigid scheduled time alone.

A final operational check

A China receiving hospital may accept the patient at a specified hour but not automatically after a missed connection. The flight escort should have the case contact who can obtain a new receiving decision and inform local road transport. If the destination is home instead, the relevant receiving person and accessibility must be confirmed. Arrival at an airport is not the end of a care-linked itinerary.
