From an overseas hospital to a receiving hospital in China: the handover map

A hospital-to-hospital plan has separate clinical, flight, airport, road, admission and payment decisions that should have named owners.

Agree what the sending hospital will release

Obtain its proposed discharge time, transport requirements and the clinician contact for medical questions. Whether a patient can fly, with what escort or equipment, requires the responsible medical and carrier decisions.

Get a receiving decision in China

A hospital request, suggested specialist or admission letter can have different meanings. Confirm the facility and campus, clinical acceptance, time window, admission contact and any conditions to be satisfied before the patient leaves overseas.

Connect the flight to the local team

Record flight and arrival terminal, authorised airport meeting point, person bringing the patient to the vehicle, actual ground provider and person taking over at the destination. Ward access and restricted airport access must be confirmed individually.

Document payment and exceptions

Separate flight, ground and hospital authorisations. Identify what happens if the aircraft is delayed, a bed changes or additional medical support is required. Keep one cross-time-zone contact responsible for notifying all teams.

Handover responsibility map

Treating team confirms clinical needs.

Receiving / local

Hospital and provider confirm acceptance and execution.

Payment / changes

Authorised party confirms scope and revised costs.

Questions before a booking

Can a ground provider confirm the entire hospital-to-hospital chain?

It can coordinate agreed segments; sending and receiving clinicians, carrier and payer still make their own decisions.

Useful details for a first enquiry

  • Named departure and receiving points
  • Date or flight and outstanding confirmations
  • Mobility and clinician-specified support
  • Person authorised to approve cost and changes

A route and support summary is enough to start; discuss detailed records directly by email with the coordinator.

Initial enquiry

Tell us where, when and what support is needed

A short description of the route and support required is enough to start. Send any case details directly by email, not through a public webpage.
