Receiving facility unavailable before a medical arrival in China

A changed bed or reception window can invalidate an otherwise confirmed flight and road plan; resolve the destination with the right teams.

Find out what changed

Ask the facility whether only the arrival time changed, the department is unavailable or the patient can no longer be accepted. Keep the written update and the name of the person who provided it. Do not silently substitute a family-preferred hospital.

Reconnect clinical and accepting teams

The sending clinicians and prospective receiving provider should agree on a suitable alternative or a changed departure schedule. The ground coordinator can help pass the updated practical plan, but cannot guarantee a bed or decide clinical destination.

Do not leave the ground team on an obsolete itinerary

Once a new destination or arrival time is agreed, reconfirm distance, support level, availability and price with the vehicle provider. Tell the airline or escort when the change affects the flight or airport handover.

Escalate a patient already in transit

If the patient is airborne or has landed, contact the responsible clinical, airport and emergency teams for a safe pathway. A pre-booked private journey is not authority to enter a different hospital or restricted airport area.

Questions before a booking

Can we change the ambulance destination ourselves?

Only after the appropriate clinical and receiving decisions and a revised agreement with the local provider.

Should the flight always be cancelled?

There is no universal answer. The responsible medical and airline teams assess timing and travel.
