Compare operational scope

The treating clinician defines care needs; the escort’s professional scope is agreed separately with the provider. Note exactly which professional accompanies each segment, what equipment each supplier brings and where their responsibility ends.

An escort ticket is not a MEDIF decision

The carrier may ask for information about the traveller’s condition, equipment and requested cabin assistance independently of the escort’s ticket. Start with the operating airline’s own process and submit any medical document through its specified channel. The clinician assesses what tasks are needed; the escort provider confirms who will perform them and with what equipment. Check whether the escort is expected to administer medication or only accompany, and whether the airline permits proposed devices. The road supplier must receive a separate brief.

Check the fragile boundary

A paid escort ticket does not approve oxygen, stretcher or other cabin equipment. Obtain the receiving-side contact and an alternate plan for delay before paying for transport. A route is only coherent when each change of provider has an identified handover.

A second decision branch

If the airline accepts the passenger with a companion but has not approved a requested device, clarify both decisions in writing. Define whether the escort is a family companion, a nurse, a paramedic or a doctor and what tasks are contracted. Airline acceptance may impose conditions that the escort booking must satisfy, while the escort provider may have its own feasibility limit.
