Shanghai hospital ward to ambulance: who brings the patient to the entrance?
A vehicle booked outside a hospital does not guarantee staff can enter the ward or move a patient inside the building.

Ask the hospital for its actual pickup rule
Confirm the permitted vehicle entrance, building, floor and whether external staff may enter the ward. Some assignments begin at a designated door rather than the bedside. The hospital decides its access rules; do not promise ward pickup based on a family’s room number.
Assign the inside movement
If the vehicle team cannot enter, name the hospital employee or authorised relative who will bring the patient and any wheelchair or belongings to the entrance. Their availability must be aligned to the discharge time and driver arrival.
Specify the clinical handover at the door
For a patient needing oxygen or other support, the treating team should state what must continue through the ward-to-door movement and who remains responsible until the road team takes over. Ask the road team to confirm equipment at the agreed entrance.
Keep the quote and contact aligned
Write the pickup entrance, contact phone, vehicle waiting area and what happens if the patient is not ready. A quote that says “hospital pickup” but omits the entrance can conceal an expensive or unsafe responsibility gap.

Questions before a booking
Will your driver come to the room?
Only if the hospital permits access and the service scope expressly includes that assistance.
What if hospital staff are delayed?
Tell the road team early and check waiting terms; do not have a clinical patient wait unsupervised outside.
